 Search Engine Optimization (SEO) adalah proses meningkatkan volume atau kualitas traffic untuk suatu website dari search engine tanpa membayar untuk terdaftar di hasil pencarian (Search Engine Marketing). Standarnya URL dari Joomla bila kita mengakses Bagian dari Menu dan Content, maka URL nya akan seperti ini http://webjoomlamu.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=16&Itemid=163. Url seperti mengkabitkan SEO Joomla kita tidak berjalan dengan baik pada mesin pencarian Google. Karena susunan URL nya yang sulit untuk di Ingat dan terlalu rumit, sehingga google tidak akan mengindex halaman Web Joomla ke dalam pencariannya. Nah... jika kita sudah menggunakan SEO maka URL kita akan menjadi seperti ini http://webjoomlamu.com/tentang-saya, tidak rumit seperti URL yang seblumnya. Dan URL seperti ini pun akan masuk ke Pencarian Google dengan sangat mudah "Karena URL nya mudah di Ingat".
Langkah awal dalam menjalankan SEO Joomla adalah Pertama-tama kamu buat terlebih dulu file bernama .htaccess dan masukkan source berikut ini:

Kemudian Silahkan anda masuk ke Global Configuration di dalam Menu Admin Joomla Anda...!!! Dan liat di sebelah kanan tampilan.
Pada Pilihan menu Search Engine Friendly URLs dan Use Apace mod_rewrite pilih YES. Kemudian Klik Save. Ok jika sudah, maka saat ini URL Joomla anda sudah menjadi lebih singkat dari yang sebelumnya yang tidak menggunakan SEO. Sekian :D
